Later this month, Nike will launch it's Día de Muertos collection featuring four brand new sneakers and apparel all inspired by the Mexican holiday, Day of the Dead. The sneakers pay homage to and are largely modeled after traditional ofrendas, or altars.

The collection features the Nike Air Max 90, Nike DBreak Type, Nike Blazer Mid and Air Jordan 1 all remodeled after the handmade artwork of papel picado and colorful flowers traditionally found at the ofrendas. Each model features a unique palette of purples, greens, and oranges, with a traditional marigold yellow found in each sneaker to tie the line together.

Nike also nods to the importance of family, as the holiday celebrates familial souls who have passed on, with the phrase "Para Mi Familia" stitched on the DBreak Type heel and the toe of the Air Jordan 1. By pulling inspiration from a traditional holiday that dates back over 3,000 years, Nike has put a contemporary and colorful spin on their new line. The Nike Día de Muertos Collection is now available to Nike Members in Mexico through SNKRS Web, and will be released globally on the SNKRS app and nike.com on October 15.
